My Hope For Rory

I hope that RIB will have Rory sound like Damian, because that’s just Irish enough without sounding like a caricature. I hope that the Irish leprechaun/green/weird hat stereotypes will be checked at the door by the end of the first ep. I hope that he and Finn will be great friends. And I really hope he gets to sing a Take That song soon. I appreciate that Damian has a great voice for doing Big Band/Elvis/Rat Pack homages, but let the guy get a little bit of hipness. Even Kurt sings Lady Gaga every once in awhile.

A Few Glee Thoughts

- I actually wish that Glee would address Finn joining the Army as more than a plot device to get him angsty and to very stupidly propose to Rachel. If the arc for the season is how high school seniors handle plans for their future, then joining the military is a very valid and common choice, especially in Small Town USA like Lima. I remember well graduating with kids who shipped out to Basic Training the next day. Heck, my cousin did it. Painting it as Finn potentially making a horrible choice based upon a hero complex is kinda offensive to every other kid who has made or will make the same decision.

- The more I hear about Ricky Martin’s character - coming in and shaking up the glee club, and Kurt’s crush - the more that he sounds like the part I advocated for John Barrowman prior to Season 2, that he supposedly was supposed to meet with Ryan Murphy about right before they announced a new series of Torchwood. If Ryan takes After Elton’s excellent advice and kills off Will, I nominate Barrowman to be the next glee club adviser. Think about it. He would definitely be a different kind of character and could serve the same purpose (hopefully less creepy though) to Blaine next year as Will has to Finn.

- Emma’s speech to Will about how she might be incomplete but she still loves him made me cry. Becky’s monologue about how hard it is to be her sometimes also made me cry. Finchel generally made me want to throw things. And why is it that it’s perfectly fine for a straight couple to make out in front of a whole class full of people but the gay couples can’t kiss at all?

- I’m really mixed on how Rory’s been written so far, but let me be possibly the only person cheering for the Rory/Quinn ship rumors. And please, please let Damian have his way and let him sing “Rule the World” by Take That.

…that Glee will do a last-minute edit to cut “I Will Always Love You”. I hope they don’t. I can’t think of a better tribute to her than to have Mercedes singing that song.

My Glee Robbie Williams Tribute Episode Headcanon

No one actually reads my Tumblr, but supposedly RIB troll Tumblr like mad, so who knows? All I know is that for a show that is so big on pop homages, has such a huge Brit fanbase and apparently now loves Brit boybands, it’s a crying shame if they don’t touch the guy who’s the best-best selling pop star of all time everywhere but the US.

My thought on it is that the storyline could be around how the guys of Glee have lost their sexy. Really, they have. Did you even see Finn’s attempt at a hip roll in The Spanish Teacher? They’re so obsessed with with their own drama that Puck’s the only one who has a hint of rock star to him. So when Shue is wanting them to kick it up a notch and asks them who they’ve seen in videos really picking up the chicks, Rory brings up Robbie. And in a subplot, Rory is feeling a bit like a fish out of water because, let’s face it, the UK has much better pop music than the US but he’s constantly teased about not being cool enough. So to give Rory a chance to show the kids the thing or two, Shue makes it Robbie Williams week.

Rock DJ - Puck (and pretty much a straight-up rip-off of the video, which might be the only Robbie Williams exposure - pun intended - he really got in the US, and who doesn’t want to see Puck rocking out the ‘hawk in tiny pants? IMHO, he’s the only one with the swagger to do it.)

Angels - Kurt. Just think about it. To him, it’s the ultimate in sexy.

Let Me Entertain You - Artie and Sam with the guys. This would be where they show off the sexy.

Kids - Finchel. Because Rachel would get insecure at the thought of Finn getting the sexy on without her involvement, because Robbie-sexy involves shagging lots of birds. The thought of her trying to do Kylie would be amusing, because she wouldn’t get it at all. This number probably wouldn’t help her much.

Let Love Be Your Energy - Blaine. To me, this is the hidden gem of the Robbie catalog, and it’s exactly the kind of song Blaine would love. If they decided to go the other direction and do another Cough Syrup turn, I would go for Heart and I, which SHOULD have been a huge hit off the last album. Or if they really wanted to blow my mind, Come Undone. They would have to show the dark side of Robbie and his sexy, after all.

Something Beautiful - Finn. This would be where Finn would really show what sexy is to him, and Rachel would feel much better about things. He could also do She’s The One, but dammit, I hate that song.

Misunderstood - Sam. I could see him doing this on guitar and breaking Mercedes’ heart in the process. This kinda fits him. Part of me wants to give him a Rock DJ-type song, but this fits and there’s no way they’d let him do Forever Texas.

Rule The World - Rory. Yes, this is Take That, not Robbie. However, Damian has said that this is his dream song to do on Glee, and Rory could sing this at the end, talk about how Robbie ended up settling down and rejoined the band, and how in the end, the sexiest thing in the world is love. This is the kind of song Glee does best, and if they don’t listen to me on anything else, they should here. Screw The Wanted - this is THE boyband.

Obviously I’ve thought about this just a little. :P I hope someone reads this.
